Basika is a Display proto-typeface, a bridge from the past into the future of experimental typeface design. It’s a powerful communication tool that allows designers to convey an identifiable message.

Basika has been designed with high attention to details and profound thought process at its core. The concept was developed over many years to finally become a typeface throughout the summer-winter of 2019. It was released on MyFonts in December of the same year.

New Alphabet designed by Wim Crouwel, used on the cover of Joy Division’s 1988 compilation Substance, and Bruno Munari’s work regarding the theory of boundary in text legibility, have been inspirational during the development process of Basika.

Basika is an ongoing project by design and new features and families will be added over time. Basika Text is planned to be released next.
